Antique Mannequin of a Seated Saint, Late 18th - Early 19th Century

Polychrome carved wood.

Late 18th to early 19th century.

This antique mannequin represents a seated female saint

The sculpture is distinguished by its refined carving work, with particular attention given to the facial features, especially the nose and mouth, which reveal the skill of the sculptor.

The hands, also made of wood, show some wear, with several fingers missing, while one foot is also missing a few toes.

The body is painted in a vivid blue, harmonizing beautifully with the well-preserved polychromy. The sculptor adds an elegant touch to the hairstyle, with the hair tied at the nape of the neck in a very feminine and graceful manner, adorned with a red ribbon. At the elbow level, part of the arms is made from textile material.

Condition: The piece requires restoration due to the missing fingers on one hand and toes on one foot, as well as visible signs of wear, but it retains its charm and aesthetic integrity.

Dimensions: H 61 cm x W 27 cm approximately

An artwork of refined quality that, despite the wear of time, highlights the remarkable craftsmanship of its era, especially in the delicate facial expression and the finely executed carving details. The skillful blend of grace in the saint's posture and elegance in the sculpted features make this a valuable piece with a fascinating patina.
