This work, titled Fiumetto, is an emblematic example of Gastone Lanfredini’s naïve and geometric style. The scene, rich in vibrant colors and stylized figures, presents a composition where natural elements, such as sunflowers and fields, intertwine with characters and objects arranged in an almost mathematical rhythm.

The geometric landscape is distinguished by the bold use of primary tones and essential forms, translating the rural world into a decorative and vibrant language. Lanfredini harmoniously balances abstraction and narration, imparting a playful yet contemplative character to the work.

Artist’s Biography

Gastone Lanfredini (Florence, 1923 – Sansepolcro, 2005) was a Tuscan painter known for his naïve style, characterized by vibrant colors, stylized figures, and a poetic vision of reality. A mathematician by training and a teacher by profession, Lanfredini incorporated scientific rigor into his artistic language, simplifying forms and emphasizing chromatic and geometric relationships.

Settling in Sansepolcro, a city that inspired much of his artistic production, Lanfredini celebrated nature and rural life with a unique sensitivity. His work was the subject of a retrospective, Gastone Lanfredini: From Sensibility to Essence – One Hundred Years Since His Birth 1923-2023, at Palazzo Alberti, Sansepolcro.

Geometric Tuscan Landscape perfectly embodies the synthesis of form and color that characterizes the artist’s work in the 1960s, offering an original and poetic vision of the natural world.
