Original mercury gilding in good condition.
It stands on acorn-shaped feet decorated with garland motifs.
Under the dial a winged figure reclining with books and torch in hand symbolizes the
Knowledge/ the literature that gives light and illuminates human existence.
Two putti to the sides have books in their hands. In the lower frieze in cast, embossed and chiselled bronze, Apollo, patron of the arts, is represented in the centre.
On the sides- representations of musical instruments.
below in corners - two harps.
Revised movement.
Complete with key and pendulum. Dial with white enamel and Arabic numerals.
Signed on the dial Courvoisier & Comp. Restored on the enamel of the dial.
