Planets, Satellites and a City in Cosmos.

Signed by artist Gregor Alexis Vogt - Tamaroff.

Date and place of creation on the back: Marseille 1972.

Size: 70cm x 80cm be with wooden frame.

In a surreal landscape, an orange sunset appears like a science fiction vision. Planets and satellites appear on the horizon, taking our imagination beyond the confines of the Solar system.
The date of the painting, created by a painter of Polish origins, suggests the scientific progress of that time. In particular, in the years 1971-1972 the spacecraft were launched into the orbit of Mars. In the same period, Russian scientists detected new rays: Gamma rays.
Therefore a period that gave many ideas for Science Fiction subjects in art: from cinema, literature and painting.
The painting is signed both at the bottom left and on the back of the painting.
The white painted wooden frame fits very well into the style of the painting with strong characteristics of the aesthetics of the 1970s.

Even if the theme of space in art is already very present at the beginning of the 20th century in the form of a dream, of a romantic idea about new prospects for the development of humanity, it is with the space race in the times of the cold war that has a new impetus following specific historical events:
In 1957, the Soviet Union launched an artificial Earth satellite into orbit, and in 1961 a man. In 1969, American astronauts set foot on the Moon. It seemed that the dream of conquering the infinite expanses of the Universe was about to come true. In reality, however, space utopia was born from the confrontation between the USSR and the USA. And interplanetary romance, replicated in songs, badges and postcards, became a major propaganda project in both countries.
