XVII century round cup in maiolica, caled Crespina.
Deruta.
Colours: yellow, brown, green, light blue. The name ‘crespina’ of round majolica cups comes from the word ‘increspato’, therefore not smooth. On the back of the cup there are in fact relief decorations, reminiscent of cantilever processing of copper pots and plates and other Renaissance kitchen metals.
Rest on a round low foot.
Slollipop on the edge (see photos). There are various signs of wear, some lack of enamel (more on the rim).
Fun and cute is the decor with the faces of jewellers with double-tipped hats and pots/baskets full of fruit. Also grotesque decoration with branches and leaves.
