Quo Vadis with rare urban view of Rome Late 16th century.

The painting represents the meeting of Jesus Christ with St. Peter.

Late 16th - early 17th century.

Technique: oil on canvas.

Antique painted wooden frame.

The peculiarity of this painting is the very rare representation of Rome on the right. You can see the ancient walls, Trajan's column and other monuments.

The urban landscape seen from above, from a bird's eye view, brings this work closer to Flemish culture.

St. Peter is easily recognizable by the keys. Excellent coloristic quality which testifies knowledge of Venetian painting.
So this painting is created by a Nordic artist who travels through Italy at the end of the 16th century.
