A tapestry from the first half of the 19th century.
Origin: Felletin or Aubusson.
Material: silk and cotton, with silk predominantly.
It represents an idyllic landscape with a water bird in front of a pond, trees, old houses in the distance and a rare representation of the artichoke plant and narcissus flowers in the foreground.
Tapestry and structurally in good condition, the colors are a little faded.
The characteristic change of colors helps to date the tapestry: at the end of the 18th century - the beginning of the 19th century, the dyes and colors were changing, new experimental colors were added to the natural pigments, the result of research by the chemical industry of the time . These colors were less stable over time.
This tapestry was born without the border, we can hypothesize its use between the two windows, it had to be quite narrow.
Later (beginning of the 20th century?) it was lined on the back.
