Clotilde de France, born Bourbon, Queen of Piedmont-Sardinia since 1796.

Painting to be restored, in poor condition, but with the original canvas and almost no pictorial retouching.
Born in 1759 in Versailles, daughter of Dauphin Louis and Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, and granddaughter of Louis XV, sister of the Kings of France Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles X.
In 1775, she married Carlo Emanuele, prince of Piedmont and heir to the throne of Sardinia. Although the marriage was arranged out of political interest, the couple immediately proved very close and found a strong and lasting commonality in the two's sincere Christian faith.
In 1798 he went into exile in Sardinia, at the end of 1799 he lived in Florence, Rome and finally in Naples.
Following a serious illness, Clotilde died on March 7, 1802. She was immediately proclaimed "tutelary angel of Piedmont".
Inheriting a genetic overweight, she received the nickname "Gros Madame".
